olivhar01
Hi chaps just wondered what feeders people use on their ponds? Mine are nearly ready to go on the pond, would a normal spring feeder be sufficient? Thanks
TIDES EDGE
I dont use feeders just tip it on the bank at the waters edge if you use pellets then in the shallows when changeing to grain then start to trail feed away from pond later on and then feed as far as poss from the pond ,I find this makes them fly better
Quickshot
I wouldnt put pellets in the pond as they will just swell up and make a stinky s@##'y mess! Put barley in the margins and leave the pellets for dry ground. QS
A1Decoy
We use the open end spiral feeders here and they work very well. Oscar
pg123
If your around on a regular basis just feed the edges of the pond. If like us your a DIY shoot and only get down at weekends an auto feeder is a god send.
Mr pigeon
We have a 150kg barrel as a hopper and use a solar panelled automatic feeder. This way we don't need to feed the ducks or go near them to feed them. This in turn makes them alot more wild and get off easier and quicker on shoot days. ezi bez
I run 2 shoots one for myself and one for a farmer anb I just use a spiral feeder thats been stretched out abit so the barley flows better and this seems to work fine on one pond ive mounted o 45 gallon drum on some scaffolding poles overthe water and this also works well then the duck can feed at night with out the fox disturbing them . Once there at an age were there flying strong I agree with what TIDES EDGE said about feeding as far from the water as possible . Hanging the feeder over water also limits the amount of feed virmin eat. All the best for 2014/2015 season Aaron B
langlands
I believe there is a special duck feeding spiral for 'over water' operation. Its very floppy (so the duck doesn't go backwards and the spiral stay still when they hit it) and wider for the barley.

silver pigeon 3
We have a hopper on an island in the pond, then soon we will start feeding the edges of the pond once the wild birds start coming in.
