kent
Some solid thick wall fibreglass hollow poles I had knocking about, cut and a sharp angle one end, They are about as thick a wall as a Landing net pole or maybe a tad thicker. I leave them permanently attached via cable ties to a 2" green plastic mesh, then just use use whats growing in that area. Its fast don't hold water and get heavy, wont blow around in the wind and cost only time as it was all stuff I found here and their. The best thing about this net though is its always a perfect blend for your surroundings. I don't think the pigeon guys might like it so much as they like their chairs and cup holders etc. but when your on the marsh its perfect and you can even back off with the tide and re-position yourself like lightning. Still have the bought net and such but I haven't used it on the saltmarsh for quite a while now. So find yourself something knocking about someplace, the green plastic coated canes from garden centres aint bad and cut nice with a copper pipe cutter, just not very durable by comparison

Cosd
Decent set of telescopic poles, light weight and strong. It's one of the essentials in your decoy kit so worth getting it right.

Duckman91
I managed to acquire some thick aluminium poles from work so I tried them out today but they were a bit short and quite heavy so I might look into some electric fence posts as they will be nice and light. or some poles ill keep my eyes open this weekend for something. cheers for the advice guys. birdsallpl
Pigeon shooting I use purpose manufactured hide poles with foot plates. Lightweight and good value at about £20 for four. On the marsh I prefer not to use anything a good creak is the answer. But if only shallow creaks then ordinary garden canes with a vee cut out of the top and smallest piece of net that will hide what's left of my profile. NickB65
Being a tall lad I needed some longer poles and I found mine on eBay - they were silver which I sprayed with some black paint, then a little green and a touch of blue all in blotches.... looks good to me..... They go up to seven feet so more than enough for deep placement so sturdy. They do not have hooks on the top so I have a set of crocodile clips I use to clip the netting to.....
