cam
Hi can anyone offer any advice I am thinking about getting an argocat for shooting any body had one? The alternative is a quad?
matone
Can be a nightmare if old or been worked hard ! They have the build quality of a lawnmower. Buy a Honda quad if you want something that works.
SHOOTEMUP
I Always fancied one of those especially as they can be used on water which you cant expect a quad to do but I have also read that you have to avoid the older ones and the tyres are very expensive
corkycorksta
We had 3 Argocats in the eighties and they just don't last. Constant maintenance was required to keep them going. The solution was a machine called a vp3000 made by a company called poncin. These were much stronger and also considerably faster but I haven't seen one for many years. I guess even if you could find one parts wouldn't be easy.

scotslad
Depend on why u want/need one. Very big difference between the type of ground/jobs u would/can do with an argo compared to a quad. Argo's are amazing bits of kit on the open hill etc and can carry a bit of wieght/tools/equip but dear to run and maintain, whereas a quad is a lot lighter cheaper etc, but canot do anything like the work u would do with an argo. Argo's are powered by a load of chains which can be a problem with the older ones A 6 wheeler polaris might be more of a compramise between the 2, or even a 4 wheel UTV if ur ground is dry and u need the larger capacity for carrying gear Very different tools in my opinion. remy 700
The newer versions are far better than they ever were , don't get an old one with the split pin axles , unless you are very handy at fiddly mechanics , NOTHING will do what an argo cat will , but there are some good 6 wheel drive gators etc catching up , go for it you wont realy loose money on an argo cat.I.M.O
