norfolkboy84
Friend found these in her grandfathers attic, (obviously not a flintlock after receiving the pictures!). Can anyone identify them and I assume they are antique so no licensing requirements? Edited July 12, 2014 by norfolkboy84
la bala
You need to surrender them to me at once.
saddler
If original and old then purely antiques If marked "Black Powder" or similar then they're modern and need to be passed to an RFD for examination/sale/disposal

Scully
Off the top of my head and without seeking reference the revolver is French, a Le something or other; 6 shot pinfire. Very collectible and cased been more so. The percussion lock is a Tower, possibly Naval, also very desirable. We're not talking tens of thousands but I'vew just got in and am ******, so what do I know1 Good finds. Get them valued by someone who knows what they're looking at. kent
I can see them making a few quid at auction, though not 100% sure I could resist keeping them myself if they revealed themselves to me in such circumstances. Have a good rummage and see there are no Hardy big game reels, double rifles or such tucked away in that loft also

1066
Scully's right. I think the revolver is a Lefaucheux M1858 French pinfire revolver. This was the first metallic cartridge revolver adopted by a national army. The Tower pistol dates from around the 1830's, it looks like it is missing it's ramrod and could possibly have had a ragged end chopped off the barrel. Both are completely legal to keep and sell, at a guess £150 each. If you are thinking of selling them put them in a proper auction.
norfolkboy84
I'm guessing that pinfire ammunition should be handed in though?
saddler
Cased revolver probably £350-£500 or more Tower probably £300-£400 Google the latest sale prices as I may be way off
