rich1985
As harvest had been postponed last week due to the rain took the family to Alton towers for the weekend and a lovely time we had too! However I made a few observations on the way and way back, from my house in North Norfolk to the other side of the fens we saw pigeon after pigeon hundreds and hundreds, after the fens saw hardly any any where, any one got any idears?? Harvest started today!! Should find some pigeons to shoot now! Got a good few hundred on standing rape, can't wait until that's out the way! JDog
Yes that is my understanding too. All of the pigeons are in Norfolk and there are very few anywhere else in the country, especially the Cotswolds.

What do you expect JDog , you have shot all the ones in the Cotswolds these last few weeks . There is certainly no shortage of birds here in the fens at the moment , but getting a decent bag is a different proposition altogether . Don't tell every one that JDog, we have only got enough for ourselves , well I surpose we could issue one or two day permits and even then we would put a limit on the bag, if Topgunner and his friends came and shot 1000+ over a weekend I am afraid the pigeon would become an endangered species and then we would get the map out and head to the Cotswolds, most of the year were used to small bags , so if we got half what you get we would be more than happy. lakeside1000
I was heading back home from Great Yarmouth this afternoon , along the coast through Scratby, the combines were in the rape and the pigeons were streaming in to land directly behind the machines, I stopped to watch them for a while and counted (roughly) well over 3 hundred in less than half an hour,up till now they have been on the standing barley, I had 21 in 2 hours yesterday but nothing like these today on the cut rape, wish I had some on my permission, still the farmer has promised to ring me next week when he is ready to start harvest on the barley, yipee !!!
