I was asked by the landowner of the estate to have a look at a crop of tricacalie,as the crows had been hitting it.When we arrived there wasn't a crow to be seen, but plenty pigeons. So a quick call and got the ok to have a go at them,my mate brought along his young lab "chance",for a workout before the pheasant season starts again. While walking to a small copse on the edge of the crop,we noticed a few birds in a laid patch,3 or 4 I thought,I fired a shot at the ones I could see, then about 20 lifted,so we dropped 4 of those,we then entered the copse and soon picked up on a flight line at the far edge, the birds were coming along side a large plantation straight for us.They kept coming for a few hours, with only a matter of a few minutes between shots,i was positioned forward of my mate up against a dry stone wall, while he stood on the edge of the wood, all the time I was letting him know they were coming, then the sky went black,so just before the heavens opened I beckoned to my mate to pick up the fallen from the field with his dog,we managed a couple of pics on our phones, then that was it,we were soaked, the strong wind gusting the rain straight into our faces,so double timed it back to the motors,we both thoroughly enjoyed a few hours of great sport, looking forward to the tricicalie being cut and hopefully bag up here......................
