Southfields
What's the latest time you can try and start decoying pigeons ? I had ago today after i had been to feed the pheasants and do a small repair to the pen by the time I had finished it was around 7:15 pm The wheat had been cut today so there was plenty about until I set up and it was dead onwards I shot 1 pigeon & had 4 shots in 2 hours ? I'm thinking It was to late to start at that time ??
fenboy
I like to be set up for 12-1pm this time of year if the birds are about I can expect steady sport until about 5pm and then things start to dwindle.
aga man
7pm is a bit late now as the nights are starting to draw in and once pushed off the birds are likely to return to roost. We have had some sport lately setting up between 2pm and 4pm but we're finding it's all over by 7pm, even earlier if starts to rain.
figgy
If you can't get out early enough to decoy, look for a steady flight line and get behind a hedge and shoot them flighting, can be great sport as you will miss more. matone
3 until 5 is when they`re active up here at the mo.
dougall
agree with above..only worth it if weather has kept them from feeding all day ie chucking it down...if weather clears then last couple of hours sees them feeding hard.Best at mo is set up lunchtime and finish @ 6pm...that is pea & wheat stubble.
