Barking Buck.....

The wheat has been cut and margins topped, this gave me a chance to cover an area I looked at a while back,

The steward ship scheme had been the problem giving too much cover....This farmer has opted out of the scheme as it makes natural paths and walkers take advantage of them instead of using the foot paths.

Back to the buck...

I heard him calling for around 20 minutes and guessed he was only a few hundred yards away, there were plenty of slots around this small wood so it had to be on his patrol route.

There was what looked like an old pigeon hide had been cut in the hedge a long while ago, but it did offer me a chance to tuck in a bit tighter.

Using quad sticks, waiting is far more comfortable with the rifle resting on them, with the light starting to fade out he popped on my right hand side around 110 yards from my stand to the wood...

This was where I though he might come as it seem a natural place and was also the start of the track running right down the outside of the wood....

I pitched the gun around and gave him a bark....the last one for him....

34 lbs. dressed, a broken antler and tusk with a neck like a pit bull.....
