casts_by_fly
Hi gents, My extended choke on my semi has knurled edges and sharp corners where the choke wrench would go. It doesn't slide into my gun case if i don't unzip it fully. I would like to be able to unzip it 1/3rd and slide it in, but it catches the fabric lining. I want a stiff tube that i can put in the end of the gun slip and let the barrel slide in and out. Any suggestions? An empty kitchen roll tube is the right size, but not stiff enough. PVC pipe might work but i would be worried about marking up the camo barrel. Thanks Rick
Mike737
We get a lot of very stiff cardboard tube that fabric comes on, you can have some of that if you want. It's about 5mm thick walls and up to 60" long. I've got tons of the stuff! Mike.
casts_by_fly
That sounds about perfect. Something about 2" OD? I could come pick it up and even grab Ben's lead for him while there. Rick
cody123
How about an old sillicon tube ?
casts_by_fly
Cody- also a good idea, but i don't have one and i don't have any builder friends. Mike- just checked and i need the same diameter as a kitchen role tube. Fits exactly in the case. Thanks Rick
IEH
I had the same problem, with the choke ripping the lining on one of my gunslips. Replaced the choke with a Kicks which doesn't have the sharp edges. Edited September 21, 2014 by IEH

figgy
Put a rubber wine stopper in the choke before putting the gun in the slip, remember to remove before shooting. I would change the choke to one that didn't snag as any Heath Robinson solution will not be great. Figgy
Mike737
Rick, the fabric tubes will be biggger than a kitchen roll tube, but until I get to work I cant measure one... Let you know later, and I'll bring one home with me tonight just in case you want it. Mike. Edit: Or I'll sew you up a leather 'sleeve' to fit over the end of the barrel? That should slide into the slip nice and easily. Mike Edited September 22, 2014 by Mike737
