My 686 (1986) is only 2.75" chamber.
-
Yes, I was told the same

Those older Pumas are superb knives. I have a 777 sport, with the button lock, and she and I will never be parted.

Rear diff fluid degrades on these, so check for groaning noises whilst on full lock at slow speed. A flush/refill resolves if caught early enough but can be expensive if left.

Which steel cartridges are you using ?
IEH replied to AlexBee's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
I was initially sceptical about steel, but I've found it very effective and if the right load is used it kills cleanly at the maximum ranges that I want to shoot at. I also occasionally use Bismuth which I like, but I'm not so sure about ITM having had mixed results with this to date. Suspect it's a patterning issue and I'll do some more (expensive) work on this over the summer. One man's meat is another man's poison etc... -
I frequently use a cheap Flexothane coat worn over warm layers. It has kept me largely dry, even during torrential rain, is dead easy to clean when clarted in mud and has lasted me a few seasons now. Not fashionable but very functional!

I had a stainless king in the 0.47l size but fell heavily on it whilst on the foreshore, completely flattening the cavity on one side. I went straight out and replaced it with another the same. Excellent flasks.

Someone on our shoot has an old Terios. Never seems to give him any trouble and it seems very good off road.

Very enjoyable, as ever. Nice to hear about your self-imposed bag limit, if only more were that responsible. Well done!

I find the Eley bismuth 36g in 4 shot a very good load. Expensive though!
-
D2 is very hard and can be a *****r to sharpen. O1 is a very good workaday knife steel.

+1

I find Express Supreme game in the 28g load very effective and very smooth shooting.

The different types are all very distinctive - see the picture here http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=73495

Try these https://thedrybootcompany.com Being rubber you might expect to sweat in them but I've not found this a problem. Sensible price too.

I'm a bit of a dinosaur and just cannot comprehend why people think they have to be able to communicate any/everywhere. Generations of us managed perfectly happily before mobile phones were available and I can't help thinking that we might be better going back there! I fully accept the usefulness of a mobile in an emergency situation, and often carry one myself for precisely that reason. However, outside of that I just can't see why it seems to be so important to so many people. Clearly I'm just an old duffer who doesn't know what's important in life!

I thought insurance policies were subject to a 14 day 'cooling off' period?

I believe a typical Benelli barrel is 0.723, so by my reckoning my Kick's HF Modified is providing around 0.013 of choke or a little over nominal quarter choke. That said, I don't find myself wanting anything tighter for steel shot and overall I find it very effective.

I've just had very good service from my local Vauxhall dealership, in trying to trace an intermittent noise which appeared to come from the front o/s wheel of my wife's Zafira (with lifetime warranty). All wheels removed, visually inspected, brake pads etc. checked and one back plate adjusted. No fault found - so no charge Sir, AND the noise appears to have stopped! As Rewulf says I would go back to them as a result.

Spot on!

I do miss the old Uniroyal Coarsefisher waders though! They lasted years, unlike most modern offerings.

Well done, I wish I could shoot in the measured way you do.
