Roy King
i bought a second hand ( brand new unused 20 year old) lee load fast progressive 12 gauge loader. Still in its box £154.00 on it It loads 70mm shells with ease, Does any body know where I can get spares for it : wad guide and crimp starters 6 &8 ( just in case)? As this model was discontinued in the early 90's I believe,
Uncle Albert
Try Henry Krank. They might be able to help you or contact Lee in America.
Roy King
I have tried them, and many others! I have sent lots of enquiring emails to Lee Precision and they just say it is a discontinued item, (1998) they stopped stocking spares for this product. This is a crying shame. It's build quality is very good. And it reloads a great cartridge with a slightly tapered crimp similar to factory loads! I am seriously considering going to an engineering company to get the 6 / 8 crimp starters made from metal.( I want to load brand new cases eventually.. rbrowning2
Post a picture of the loader so members can see what the first crimp station looks like it may be possible to modify a GAEP crimp to fit which is for example a easy job on a mec jnr press. Andy H
MEC do a spindex starter in 6 and 8 point that may fit . http://www.ballisticproducts.com/MEC-Spindex-Crimp-Starter-Kit-8462/productinfo/1308462/
Roy King
Thanks again you guys had a quick look at both, the only problem with getting them to fit is the part that has the 45' degree chamfer on the outside it has to fit into the housing of the loader?? Roy King
I will have a look into getting a local engineering company to get a quote to make a steel one of each,, bet it won't be cheap
Andy H
The back of the spindex may have enough material on it to incorporate a 45 degree angle cut.
Roy King
Andy H thanks, I've had a look that might work you know! I also saw a solid brass super crown crimp starter a bit more meat on it to machine it off. I will ring Henry krank later they are £36.00 each for the 6 & 8 crimp $38.00 in the states.....???? Good old Brits getting ripped of again!!!!!!
Uncle Albert
Have a look on the FES Kent website ( www.####.co.uk ). They may well be cheaper. If you phone him he may be able to help you with regards to spares for your machine. He's a mine of information.
