darebear
so in my usual randomness, i have decided we (scaffy and my good self), should take a trip to the south of france for some sun later this year. hop on the ferry and drive down. i just wondered if anyone has been there on holiday recently and could give me some advice? the damn south coast is rather large and wouldnt know where to pick. also, anyone know of any good cottages/apartments/hotels to stay at? ones that you would recommend? cheers. bobt
Have a look at Bandol. reputed to have only 6 days of rain per year, nice friendly people, unlike the bigger places.
Vulcha
I reckon when you go down there you should bring back loads of bangers to sell to me

flash
ur better off buying rook scarers from mole valley and taking the bangers off those, there waterproof, and last year someone at my college flushed one down the bog after lighting it, and it blew the pan up, police threatened to arrest him under the terrorism act, its like 144 bangers for ?24. and well worth it
JJaxeman
I used to go down to the south of France nearly every year and we use to use a company called Bowhills they are on the net and have lovely cottages/gites available for rent they may not be the the cheapest but we had many a good holiday using them. (Mainly inlad but also did St Tropez) Cheers Jas
Dunkield
We are going in July, but flying into Nice and then hiring a car. You can get tickets on BA for about £50 each these days. Have a look here for starters for accomodation http://www.bed-breakfast-france.com/
Boytleburgher
Darebear, We go down there nearly every year. We always sort out our own accomodation. We stay in the Sete area, near Meze. Great Beaches, great weather and cheap Wine. Try www.Gitedefrance.fr If you know what youre after i may be able to help. We know some people who rent out Gites with or with out pools. Theres camp sites on the beach "Eurocamp" Best of Luck Nige
Catamong
DB, Don't know the South very well, but I know areas of Northern France better than I know parts of England. If you are driving down, my advice would be to take the Tunnel instead of the ferry, it's a lot quicker and you can use Tesco Clubcard vouchers to get a freebie, also you will need somewhere for an overnight stay. Try this hotel chain, basic accommodation, but very good value and ideal for an overnighter: http://www.hotel-bb.com/?NumLangue=2&s...NewsJuillet2005 Cat. Dunkield
DB, IIRC it's 3 times the size of England and similar sized population If you book now'ish you should get some good deals on flights. I booked 3 returns to Geneva in August and got them for about 50 squid each way off BA.
Vulcha
I reckon when you go down there you should bring back loads of bangers to sell to me of which variety vulcha? sausages? old beat-up cars? fireworks? A combination of the three I think, though fireworks would take priority.
Peter_HMR
Have a mate whos dad is loaded and took me on a holiday in their cruiser along coasts of south france, monaco and italy. Very nice place but all i can say is its damn expensive. Something like double the price for everything . But it really is a nice place all the beachs are made of stone though something to think about probably sandier in the eastern facing coasts of france. In france we were in nice and atibes and saint tropez all really nice places .
