Thelongwayup
Happy new year everyone. Bit of a problem with my 56 new shape. Had a water leak in the back which looks like it's coming in from the passengers side somewhere above the back window as the roof liners damp but the footwells in the passengers rear and front are absolutely soaked. Started looking for it the other day but couldn't locate the problem area. Think I need to remove my canopy and have a good search from the other side for anything obvious. However, since the water leak I now have developed an electrical issue. Most mornings i've had to wipe the screen inside due to moisture from the inside of the truck been so wet. Now I have no wipers, no indicators, only 3 of my elec windows works, drivers ok, lights are on full even if off on the stalk, no power to washer bottle motor either. So i'm guessing water has got into something and shorted it out somewhere? Can't see any blown fuses though.... I have a dehumidifier in there at the minute to try and dry it out whilst I locate the leak issue but the trucks useless if I can't indicate, clear windows etc. Any ideas? Cheers in advance. fenboy
Have you checked the fuse box , I had a van where water would get in it and it did all sorts of strange things even turned the radio and or lights on in the middle of the night , never did find out how it was getting to it though. I can still start and drive the car just nothing electrical seems to be working apart from lights on full all the time when it's running. neil82
stick a fan heater in it with a window open about half an inch, as for the leak, has it got roof bar channels in the roof, and is the aerial mounted in the roof, you may end up dropping the roof lining to trace it, good luck,, I hate water leaks
bluesj
I can't think of any electrical control units on or near the floor so you shouldn't have got water directly in to any thing but it sounds like you have got condensation in something. first off get it dried out. Check the door rubbers for your leak. If you need a manual there is one on line here http://www.l200forum.com/, you will need to sing up the the forum but its well worth it. There are roof rails but all sealed as standard. Or should I say, from what I can see anyway.... Cheers Blue, I'm a member on the other L200 forum and couldn't find any manual as such so that's a bonus. Think I'm a member on there actually...... armsid
if water has run down the a post then the water is going behind the glove box check here for any electrical connections might be the area to look

guss109
Might be coming in through the arial hole. Pop out the light and you should be able to slacken the nut then use silicone and re tighten. I'd put money on that's where it's getting in
Thelongwayup
IF....This miserable weather ever lets up I'll be able to have a proper look tomorrow and go from there. Dehumidifiers pulled a fair bit of water out of the car but no joy with the electrics still...Can see this been costly.
onatangent
if it was an Audi I would have said ecm in the foot well, happened to mine! Forum is the best shout, e-manuals are available with a bit of a search
Thelongwayup
Update: The water was coming in through the rear small window next to the drop down canopy one. Trim was full of **** and allowing water in. Cleaned it up and sealed it and now no more water is getting in. Electrics- in the passenger footwell to the left hand side is a panel that comes off. Behind this is a few connector plugs. These were wet from the carpet so we've dried them out and cleaned them up and at present they seem to be working as normal. All trims are still off as the carpets are still damp underneath so I've pulled these back and dried up the excess and left the dehumidifier in there till it's all dry. Hopefully this is the end of the problems. Thanks for all the replies and advice guys.
B725
Give the electrics a good spray of WD40 to help displace any water glad you are all sorted.
onatangent
wd is fine for water displacement but adds a resistance to contacts and shouldn't be used.
B725
If you don't mind me asking how does it add resistance?
onatangent
cant remember exactly, something to do with its corrosion inhibiting ingredient in the formulation. I only ever use products like contact cleaners and alike. Wd never makes an appearance on aircraft or my cars :-) if in doubt get the hairdryer out....or heat gun....poly bag and silica etc etc. Edited January 2, 2015 by onatangent
