69chris
so whats the usual fix guys ? a special barrel strap with intergral mount or just drill/fit a sling stud and fit the bipod in the usual way ?? cheers
steve_b_wales
If it's a wooden stock, then drill it. I added a spot of Araldite to the threads before screwing them in. I also had a new 10/22 and bought a Hogue over moulded stock for it. It had studs fitted to it, and it does away with the barrel band. I also found that using the Hogue stock improved the accuracy of the rifle.
welshwarrior
Drill and fit a sling swivle. Chuck the barrel band in the bin they tend to ruin accuracy.

It totally transforms the handling etc. And you don't need the barrel band with it either. Worth every penny.

More accurate than with a barrel band and the deluxe and most after market stocks bin the barrel band.
69chris
thanks guys, have removed the band and was suprised on just how.......sturdy, the rifle is !! i dunno what i was expecting but with the 1 remaining screw i perhaps thought it might be a tad.........loose anyhow, now you guys have me thinking of aftermarket stocks so iv been looking (curse you - i only asked about a sling stud !!)) whats the thoughts on the boyds thumbhole stocks that are available ?? Dougy
Just make sure that nothing is touching the barrel ie; the stud you're screwing in. If its a wood stock you could get some wood out of the barrel groove, just to make sure its floated.
Lloyd90
Why do they put a barrel band on when it's better without it ?
