scotslad
Alright folks Was just wondering the best way to bandage/protect a dogs tail? (in the kennel/walking not working) Is there anything on the market some sort of tail protector that can be reused? 1 off my lab's has burst it again, dunno how many times he has burst it now usually twice or thrice a year, althou it seems a while simce he last burst it. Its purely throu hitting thjings with his tail, he's 1 off those 1's that can sting when he catches u on the knee caps with it. In the past i've tried all sorts from tubeeguaze (the human finger stuff) to pieces of alkethene gas pipe, a plastic syringe the vet gave me (dont try it, was hard plastic so when it smashed it then cut his tail worse), probably the best has been pipe lagging but its hard to get it to stay on due to the force of the tail. To be honest i should really be thinking about getting it amputed but labs look a bit sill with docked tails and i changed his run about abit after the lst time which has definately helped as has been a while since the last time
Dirty Harry
Have you tried the self adhesive stretchy bandage you can get from the vets?
robbietherimmer
had something similar a many years back and the vet fixed using a section of pipe insulation foam, a circulation stocking (like they use on old folk or on long haul flights to prevent DVT) and a good old fashioned pair of pants. It was a sight but dogs tail healed up in no time and pretty simple to do. Thing is once its healed its like a boxers eye and will split easier next time. Prevention better than cure so if your not heading out with dog in public just keep the pants on him for a month or so
loriusgarrulus
Have a look at "dog ends" tail protectors on www.bonovate.com
JDog
I had to have my Labrador's tail amputated because he broke it open so often. I did try all sorts of bandaging and protection beforehand but nothing stayed on.
