haggis
Do neoprene waders have neoprene down into the boot or is it best to invest in neoprene socks?
Wildfowler12
It all depends on the model, some do some don't.
haggis
Do you have a pair that do? or can recommend any?
ohark
http://www.koalaproducts.co.uk/waders I bought some off these for 40 quid a couple of years since cheap and have done the job perfectly. Mind they stink when you first get them
fenboy
I have a pair of neoprene waders and to be honest I think they are over rated , if you have any sort of walk you sweat your nads , they tear easily if your not careful and the neoprene soaks up water in the outer layer like a sponge making them heavy and it means they take a age to dry out. I now use heavy duty pvc waders with a insulated boot for 99% of my wildfowling .
dawntredder
Do you have a pair that do? or can recommend any? I have had a pair now for 11 seasons from "greys of alnwick" £100 and they have it into the boot there studded aswell they never tore until I got them caught on barbedwire but easy sorted....they are best thing I bought, yes you do sweat in them but when winter comes they wont turn to sheets of ice like stupid pvc ones....they keep you proper warm apart from the feet but nowt keeps the toes warm...NOWT !! :good:neoprene is the way to go Edited January 18, 2015 by Robbie Forster
guy baxendale
I have the Prologic Neoprene ones about £80 - they come with a rubber boot so cold feet are still an issue
casts_by_fly
you shouldn't wear neoprene socks anyway. You want polypro or wool with a wicking layer for your feet. Neoprene doesn't breathe, so it keeps all of the sweat next to your foot. thanks, rick
BlackBoar
Also have Koala neoprene chest waders from fleabay. Does the job, cheap and has neoprene down in to the boot. Although on a stormy day with plenty of layers, hold back on the coffee. ******* like a racehorse soon becomes an ordeal.
rjimmer
http://www.koalaproducts.co.uk/waders I bought some off these for 40 quid a couple of years since cheap and have done the job perfectly. Mind they stink when you first get them I started off with a pair of Lacrosse Brush Tuff II chest waders, but the boots soon started to crack up. I don't know how long various retailers had had them in stock so I can't completely condemn them. I can't imagine anything warmer, even with damp feet, before they were no longer repairable. I have now cut the boots off and use them over wellingtons as salopets. I next bought a pair from Tidepool, Garlands, I suspect, but halfway through the second season, both boots have started to crack up. I have now bought a pair of Koala like you have, hoping to get a season out of them. If only Hood Bulleye made camo chest waders! My first Bullseye waders lasted 14 years. ohark
If I've got a walk out, I tend to role them down like trousers, as you do get hot, but that's the same as any clothing in winter so you don't get cold through sweating to much. I put my stuff in a rucksack till I get to me spot, I then cool off then redress, all weather permitting . I can see the point of ruining expensive kit in such harsh conditions. I will be out to Lindisfarne next week so they will get plenty of stick there
haggis
Thanks for your replies I think the Koala cheapies are the way to go for my first season and see how they fair before a upgrade. So I take it they're not neoprene inside the boot like my Muck boots. At the moment I just wear Muck boots with Hunter liners and waterproofs and 2 pairs of joggers when cold seems to work so far but just need some good gloves. The Sealskinz look good but pricey.
