steveyg
Not been out on the pigeons for while so was well happy when Jdog offered to take me out today. We set off at 10.30 in our quest for a decent flight line,Jdog had a couple of options for us to reccy. There were a few about on our first rape field however none joining so we set off to another field with our fingers crossed. This is a stunning perm in the center of the Cotswolds however nothing was on the fields or fighting... We decided to head back to the original field and there was a weak line so we decided to set up for an hour to grab a coffee. We had no dead birds, so set up with some flocked shells and a couple of foam wing decoys on the magnet. The wind was blowing nicely however unfortunately the sun was in our face. A steady number of birds decoyed beautifully and we managed to get a couple for the magnet, one for the flapper and a couple on floaters within the first hour. We decided to get out and have a tidy up,got back in the hide a pigeon decoyed text book style....Jdog went to fire and we heard the dreaded click...he had taken his cartridges out of the gun before we went out...his Sunday school teacher would not of been happy with the expletives that were flying... My turn to shoot..." Don't miss stevey...don't miss stevey"... no pressure....went to shoot and the safety got stuck... We finished with 16 picked with another couple in the hedge that we couldn't find. at least a dozen decoyed beautifully today which certainly got the adrenalin going.. There is no better sight than watching a pigeon fold their wings and decoy to the pattern...quality afternoons sport and banter. Cheers Jdog :good:
fenboy
Glad you enjoyed it , I do hope JDog is not going to make school boy errors like that when he becomes a honourary yellow belly .
belly47
when I shoot with my pal Worzel Gummidge we take turns shooting, and if one of us makes the schoolboy error of not removing the safety you forfeit your next go, always makes me chuckle when one of us does it. SNS
JDog firing blanks ? Oh dear that will never do. I shot at one pigeon today. And missed. Fortunately it was my 2nd partridge day of the week and I managed to bag quite a few of the little fellas. Yum !
