  2. Up until 2yrs ago yackdaz there were plenty of beans grown around the scarisbrick area (west lanc's),only problem was they were on organised pheasant shoots so I could never get any perm to have ago, only ever seen 2 pea fields in 30 yrs.the other problem is the big money men have moved in and taken the good pigeon shooting as well

  7. I've had the same problem over the years,I've asked the experts from gun dog trainers to vets, nutrition was mentioned but no one really knows, but for peace of mind the vets I've spoke too have said there are no health risks to your dog.

  9. Hello and welcome from west Lancashire, good luck with your perm's its like rocking horse poo around here.
  10. For the past ten years or so they've grown beans in my area, but not this season just gone, for many years we've always had big flocks of pigeon in the winter, this winter was very poor,it's probably not a coincidence but it does make you think.it would be worth asking the farmer if the beans are for human consumption or cattle feed,if they are for cattle they will probably only cut it mid October and it can offer some good sport, unfortunately for a lot of the bean fields on my patch were on a partridge/ pheasant shoots so hence we were not allowed on till February, but will still had some good sport, best of luck.
  11. This time of year look out for road kill,pheasant/duck,if your training a young dog pigeons are the worst bird to use like the last post said loose feathers, only start your dog on pigeons when you are getting good confident retrieves time after time.
  12. Shot to young birds Saturday (27thfeb) a first for me at this time of year
