Chris Bb
Just lost the offside rear reflector off my Freelander 2. That or some towrag's had it away. You know, the little red piece of plastic that reflects headlights. Replacement price? Anything from £17.50 to over £25. FOR A PIECE OF PLASTIC. Strewth! They must cost all of £0.02 to manufacture. What a rip off (no pun intended). Will phone "scrappy" in the morning.

MartynGT4
New indicator stalk for the gf's peugeot 206, which failed the MOT because the return spring was weak, got quoted £350! Yes you read that right, three hundred and fifty bloody quid because you have to replace pretty much everything that wraps the steering column including the air bag electronics! 5 minutes research online and I found a bloke who repaired it for £25 with a two day turnaround! Result! Edited January 25, 2015 by MartynGT4
keg
In teh same vein, Side wheelarch/bumper moulding on the Landcruiser, about 2ft long, goes from rear of rear arch to the back bumper moulding, comes ready painted so expected it to be £250ish. Over £400 before fitting for a bit of plastic...
Lord Geordie
I was once quoted £150+ for a set of plug leads, over a grand to replace a timing belt, and £300 for wheel alignment. I no longer use dealers. The plug leads I got myself for £60, I got the belt changed independantly for £230 and the wheel alignment was the best! £25 at National Tyres! Rupert
Perhaps spare parts prices subsidise on the road prices for new cars.
