Passionforangling
I would be interested in anyone's views/ experiences with these organisations. I have a car whose registration I popped into the valuation request of a very well know one that buys any car. The car in question was a standard salon type car, 47000 miles, two owners with full service history. The price that came back from them although not amazing was just reasonable so I made an appointment for them to view the car. The fella was very nice and commented on how good the car was both inside and out. He managed to find some tiny, and I mean tiny scratches on the edges of the alloy wheels and 3 or 4 of the tiniest rust spots, not much bigger than a pin head! Anyway, when he put these " faults" into his computer it came back with a price £500 less than their original offer price! I was pretty mad because these were really the tiniest of things and I said I was not going to accept less than the original offer because I'd already secured a better trade in deal for the next car I'm buying. He said he would phone his manager to see what could be done at which point I said forget it and left. Is this the normal way of working for these organisations I wondered, entice you in then find trivial faults to lower the price in the hope you are desperate to sell? Certainly, on today's experience I would not recommend them in the slightest.
walshie
That's exactly what they do and now you'll be bombarded with emails from them.
Brodie
Your experience mirrors mine. They do pick up the slightest fault and drop the price. It seemed to be normal to then negotiate the price up again. They seem less concerned about mechanical faults provided tyres are good and MOT/servicing is up to date. Having said that, I ended up with a very good price from We Buy Any Car.com. I got a price just £500 less than a main dealer's screen price - over a £1000 more than I was offered as a trade in. Sha Bu Le
Don't forget to include admin fees, have heard stories where the offered price was less than the fees, if it had been accepted whoever it/they were would have owed them money. AVB
I have used two companies. Webuyyourjamjar and webuyanycar. Both gave be good quotes and didn't deviate when they saw the car. Perhaps I was just good at describing the cars as they were!
SEshooter
I sold my range rover td6 to webuyanycar around a month ago. The gear box/torque converter were banging and squealing. The turbo was also sounding pretty ruff. I was advised by a Landy specialist to get rid quick or expect a bill in the region of £3500. Went online and go a quote of them. the car had been keyed down one side, alloys curbed (by the wife) and had a couple of rust spots. I put down for the quote it had a scratch bigger than 2.5cm and that was only damage. I turned up, the fella had a look around it and was happy with the damage I had put Down. Asked me to start it up and that was it. Went back in the office and they paid me the online price.
