thanks ive made him a cake, but i meant such things like ballistics, didtance of bullet, ect

No disrespect mate this is not at dig at you, but you SHOULD be doing what you've mentioned above and much more,I gather you have never had an FAC or much experience using them,

You need to know your land, public footpaths, safe back stops etc etc etc, ie let the FEO know that "you know" what your doing regarding safe gun handling and safety etc etc etc

Cheers. Will cherish it when it comes after the long wait. I have already found all the rifles I want as I have had so much time. Wish I could secure some of them but can't till the ticket comes. Got all the other stuff sorted though. Good luck with your visit.

cheers will let you know.

I would do some research on ballistics and propensity for ricochets - get to know what type of bullet will be best for the type of quarry you are after - with the amount of land you have, you may need to go for a variation for a .222/22-250/.223 for larger vermin (fox). Ask his/her advice for the future. Safety is absolutely the key, how to judge a shot safe, backstops, knowing land for possible night shooting. Never shooting even horizontal without an immediate backstop. NEVER in the air. How far do the rounds carry? Ask for moderators to protect hearing NOT for silent hunting.

Just learn, and keep at it until he comes. Dont forget safety rules and laws - I presume you have a cabinet and an ammo safe ? Are they placed out of obvious sight? How should you behave when carrying rifles in your car and so forth. He wont expect you to know everything but over safety, he needs to be satisfied that you can be responsible with a deadly weapon.

You may need to known all that information in your area but thankfully not in ours just relax and be honest your flo will ask you very little about everything mentioned above.

I thought Durham were 'difficult' ? Seemingly not.

I would suggest though that most of what I put in the post was rather necessary background knowledge ?

With Durham its a lottery what they are like, when I had my fac interview many moons ago I wasnt asked 1 safety question or anything about the land I nominated it was just a brief 10 min chat about the application check I actually had a cabinet and then he was off. On a first application they dont expect you to know everything.

It must be quite variable then since on my first grant (when Noah was a lad) I was asked about ballistics and even about how close one should approach a highway.

in hindsite i should of put 22fac air rifle, ididnt, should i ring feo,and aswk if i can add this on,or wait to see if i get my fac, and then apply for it

If you have a good reason, such as, self imposed restriction shooting around farm buildings etc etc then I would. FAC air tends to be a lesser alternative for approval - I was approved for a 2 acre field with FAC air but, as you say, stress its an addition, not an alternative.
