reddeer 40
In the week-end of feb. 7th I come to England (Rutland) for the first time to shoot woodpigeon. I have a lot of experience for pigeon in Belgium (mostly in wood and on maïs crops), but never on rape? (oily seeds?). I have a pigeon magnet and lots of decoys. Some imformation would be great. Thanks,
F150
Welcome reddeer I hope you've got a bag full of patience - rape is not everybody's favourite crop at this time of year. Come back for the spring drilling, especially the beans, for some serious woodie shooting! Cheers F150
Pigeon_decoyer
Welcome to England! Rape is my best crop to shoot! i dont really know why? There are no really different ways you can decoy them, i swear my the pigeon magnet because every time i have gone shooting with it in england i have always had great success. Cranfield
reddeer40, I assume you will be shooting with friends, or a Professional Guide. Rely on them to put you in the right place, at the right time. All you have to do is to hit the birds.
Pigeon_decoyer
I remember the first time i went pigeon decoying and didn't have a clue i thought you had to shoot through the net, Just wear plenty of camo or green clothing and have a practice before you go. reddeer 40
We are back in Belgium, and I am already missing England. Over the last 3 days (from Thursday noon - Sunday moring) I shot 52 wood pigeons. And it was very hard to get them. In the morning I was shooting on rape, and only one time they were coming on to the pigeon magnet with 24 decoys. I saw huge flocks of pigeons , but only the smaller groups came to take a look. In the afternoon I had a wood of 40 ha for myself, and whem they came to roost I was able to shoot a few. I did not recieved big bags but I was pleased with it. You have a beautiful nature in England and huge ammounts of pigeons. The farmer will renew my shotgun licence so I will come more often for shooting. Greetings to all of you
