loriusgarrulus
Been experimenting again. 1 sachet Aldi yeast. 250g white spelt flour (Waitrose) 50g Dark rye flour 100g white strong bread flour 1teasp salt 2teasp sugar 1tablesp olive oil 280ml water Put in bread pan in the same order as above. Cook on rapid bake 2hr on Panasonic. Enjoy. Makes a tasty loaf good for sandwiches or toast and with the high spelt content doesn't give you indigestion. loriusgarrulus
Tried a variation of above recipe. It came out the best yet. 1 sachet Aldi yeast. 200g white spelt flour (Waitrose) 100g Dark rye flour 100g white strong bread flour 1teasp salt 2teasp sugar 1tablesp olive oil 300ml water Put in bread pan in the same order as above. Cook on rapid bake 2hr on Panasonic. The increased rye gives a nice texture and flavour with the extra 20ml water making it moister without being too wet. Oxfordshooter
Agreed, Spelt makes a nourishing loaf. Adding some whole Sunflower And Pumpkin seeds to any loaf in the breadmaker gives them a nice texture and extra nutrition. Jay_Russell
Never tried making bread but the wife does have a breadmaker given to us as a wedding present. Very tempted to drag it out. Love fresh bread
loriusgarrulus
We rarely buy any bread now. The above recipe works well with just 400g of strong white bread flour and 280ml water if you don't want the spelt and rye. The fruit loaf is brilliant. The satchets of dried fast yeast are ideal for breadmakers and keep for ages. Just make sure you put the ingredients in the bread maker in the order as above. Works every time. An electric knife helps if you want to cut the bread thin, but you can't beat a warm fresh chunky crust off the loaf with butter and a good strawberry 75% fruit jam on it. FalconFN
The panasonics are great but for the simplest, tastiest loaf you've got to try the no kneed bread recipe https://youtu.be/13Ah9ES2yTU It works amazingly well but you do have to wait for it. Agreed - this makes a phenomenal loaf. This technique finally drove home the most important ingredient in making a first class loaf - time.
