  2. My turn to cook today pork schnitzel, home made potato salad and salad veggies
  3. I had to laugh the other day an old boy I talk to regularly says he's smoked since he was 14, (he's now 85) and is fit as a fiddle, says when he started smoking he was on capstan full strength (they were pure evil.....) and now smokes what he describes as his own evil concoction, which even he admits, smells a bit like a cross between a burning straw stack and burning car tyres, with a bit of burning manure thrown in........well he reckons after 60 odd years of that, nowt will kill him, and as he put it...theres a reason you creosote fences........ me...I just shake my head and grin....one life...live it......
  4. try telling that to my boss...that i am entitled to as long a break as i want....🤣
  5. he's entitled to .....WE pay their wages, and are thus due an accounting therefor.....
  6. and before anyone cries "anti police"...I'm on of those who think that they should have GREATER POWERS but ONLY within what has been given unto them to do.... for instance they should be able to confiscate caravans from idiots out and about, and even the vehicles of those who break lockdown.
  7. 3 is it or 4 instances of police over reach on what should be straight forward....... confusion? bad communication? or a deliberate and sinister intent to impose more than is asked for ...testing the boundaries so to speak? see what they can get away with?
  8. FROM....https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-dalek-patrols-streets-ordering-humans-to-self-isolate-11969126 A Dalek has been spotted patrolling the streets of a small village and ordering "all humans to self-isolate". In a video captured by amused residents, the Doctor Who villain passes through the deserted street while ordering people to comply with "the order of the Daleks". LINK IS SAFE
  9. Nah...he's only got small hadrons
  10. true enough but the bar should be very low .....in your property without invitation having been given (which rules out visitors)
  11. yes.......but the hoops to provide "justification" and the bar they are set at are too much.....it should be unconditional...someone in your home...without permission or warrant.....should be fair game for "whack a mole"....without warning and from behind if thats convenient....
  12. Apart from a couple where the nurse accidently switched from blow to suck......🥴
  13. Personally I think there are two "problems" firstly except in very specific circumstances policing is reactive rather than proactive, which is a product of the second problem, which is law and the Criminal justice system. the police CANT protect YOU the vioctim from the serial burglar / serial feeble minded body vandal until they actually have proof do deal with it....and when they do the lily livered libertarians have emasculated the justice system to the point of derision..... so if burglar bill enters your property unless he actually attacks you (by which time its likely too late) you are NOT allowed to bend a length of 2x4 over his skull.....you may only ask him politely to leave..... whats needed is a change in the law and the attitude and composition of the justices.....You SHOULD be allowed to carry out a preemptive strike on someone in your home without permission.....regardless of whether such a strike is fatal or not..... THAT is not the fault of the police though. That said, i have always thought (but stand to be corrected on this ) that we gave up our right to unrestricted carrying of arms, on the promise that the police would protect us......I'm not entirely convinced that that is working unconditionally.....
  14. Pot kettle black........😂, Mr pie man

  19. Ten Commandments of Electrical Safety (1) Beware of the lightning that lurks in an undischarged capacitor lest it cause thee to be bounced upon thy backside in a most ungainly manner. (2) Cause thou the switch that supplies large quantities of juice to be opened and thusly tagged, so thy days may be long on this earthly vale of tears. (3) Prove to thyself that all circuits that radiateth and upon which thou worketh are grounded lest they lift thee to high-frequency potential and cause thee to radiate also. (4) Take care thou useth the proper method when thou taketh the measure of high-voltage circuits so that thou doth not incinerate both thee and the meter, for verily though thou hast no account number and can be easily replaced, the meter doth have one and as a consequence bringeth much woe upon the supply department. (5)Tarry thee not amongst those who engage in intentional shocks for they are surely non-believers and are not long for this world. (6) Take care thou tampereth not with interlocks and safety devices, for this incureth the wrath of thy seniors and bringeth the fury of the safety officer down upon thy head and shoulders. (7) Work thee not on energized equipment, for if thou doeth, thy mates will surely be buying lunch without thee and thy space at the table will be filled by another. (8) Verily, verily I say unto thee, never service high-voltage equipment alone, for electric cooking is a slothful process, and thou might sizzle in thy own fat for hours on end before thy Maker sees fit to end thy misery and drag thee into His fold. (9) Trifle thee not with radioactive tubes and substances lest thou commence to glow in the dark like a lightning bug. (10) Commit thee to memory the works of the prophets, which are written in the instruction books, which giveth the straight info and which consoleth thee, and thou cannot make mistakes. -From Orbit, the Journal of the Rutherford High Energy Laboratory, Didcot, England (31 January 1965) p.12

  22. Frog and ScorpionOnce upon a time there was a frog. One day, Frog was sitting by a river bank when along came a Scorpion.“Hello brother Frog,” said Scorpion. “I wonder if you might be so kind as to give me a ride across the river on your back.”Frog knew that Scorpion could not swim.“I don't think that's a good idea,” said Frog. “You have a deadly sting. You might kill me.”“But why would I do that?” replied Scorpion. “If I stung you, we would both die.”“Mmm,” thoughtFrog. “That makes sense.”“Alright Scorpion, jump onto my back and I will give you a ride across the river,”he said.So Scorpion jumped onto Frog's back and Frog began to swim across the river. But halfway across, Scorpion took his deadly sting and stuck it into Frog's back. And asthe poison filled Frog's body his arms began to stiffen and they both began to sink. “Why?”gasped Frog in despair.“Sorry Frog,” said Scorpion. “It's my nature.”
  23. wrong terminal velocity of an object is dependant on air resistance above all. NOT on the wight of an object...remember the experiment of dropping to different wights of cannon balls of the eifel tower??? and work out height (in meters) and then go for acdeleration of 9.8m per second squared.......... in the first second your object will fall 9.8m and will be trveling at 9.8m per second after the 2nd second it will have fallen 19.6m and be travelling at 19.6m per second etc..... look at the graph if an object fell from 313m it will be travelling at 78.4m per second or about 35km/hr it can be shown that velocity (in m/sec)= root (2gd) where g is accel due to gravity and d = distance let distance = 1000m so root(2 x9.8x1000)= 140 meters per second or 5040 kph or 3150mph
  24. cor, an AR88...nice bit of kit them, although a trifle heavy..... held a licence since 1978...call sign G8PEO...no point looking it up to stalk me...not in call book and all entries on the web are out of date.. 😁 currently running a modified Icom IC707 and a yeasu 8800E the icom is into a carolina windom at a paltry 30ft via a MFJ Intellituner, and the yaesu is into a 6/2/70 "white stick" at about 20 ft my van has 2/70 home brew antenna on roof and the ft8800 comes for a ride with me when I go down our wood, though soon there will be a HF antenna up there too...
