I was giving this topic some thought, I know unusal for me before you all start :good:

We blame a lot on the Muslim fanatics but to be honest are Christians any better? For sure they are less likely to blow themselves up, unless you count the IRA contingentcy but it is the snidey underhand way they do things.

In the paper on Saturday (and I am eagerly awaiting tomorrows local paper as I'm sure there will be more) it was written that the local Roman Catholic school refused to raise money for red nose day as the charities did not "fit into the ethos of the school". This equated to "they might spend it on contraceptives in Africa to stop AIDS".

Now I am not one for red nose day but if people want to raise money then good luck to them, infact i think it is a good excuse for kids at school to have a laugh.

What I cannot understand is that the school and therefore the Catholic religion can put pride, and thats all it is really above the chance to stop children getting killed by a disease they have inherited through no fault of their own.

I think that sometimes putting your beliefs on hold and being flexible to a degree to save lives is more important the being stubborn.

On the other hand I firmly believe that the aid we give to Africa should be direct to the cause and not given to the government to build palaces and golden thrones. Or to stockpile weapons.

For every £1 given 100p should reach the cause.

Always nice to know...

My personal opinion is that religion is just generally a bad thing. More wars have been started and blood shed because of that than just about anything. Ok, Stalin doesn't really count unless you want to define Communism as a religion (which it almost is, sort of) but the crusades were case in point.

Dubya Bush is living proof that the crusades live on and that it is also possible to have christian fundamentalists.

I'm with Wookie on this one, all religion does is cause trouble! Opinions vary as to what god wants you to do, depending on your beliefs, and anyone worshipping the other dude is bad! Christianity is a lesser one I think, it doesn't push destroying the opposition, but it still makes trouble. Catholics and contaception is a great example, it's not good practice to avoid having kids if you're not ready to support them??? How about we do what we want then just confess, say sorry and everythings fine again (until confessions next week!)? Great plan that! Do not worship any idol is another good one, selfish ****! What's wrong with a bit of Pigeon watch? I spend more time worshipping here than I do reading the bible :good::good:

Looking back it seemed that this topic could have spiraled out of control. However I appreciate the constructive replies and glad it has not provoked daft replies!

This was just something I was thinking about and just put my thoughts to print so to speak.

Oh my God "Citizen Smith"!

Sheet, that brings back memories, brother.

"POWER TO THE PEOPLE"

As for religion only good thing about it is the Wars they cause bringing down there numbers and world population, as over population is the fastest route to the end of Mankind and the rest of life on earth IMHO.

This problem will not be addressed because President Bush has told any Country that raises the issue of population control, USA will stop any funding or support to that Country :good:

PELTMAN :good:
