Andrew86
I am needing a new batterty for my rotary as the current one is almost dead. Can you get rechargeable ones? If so which one is the best? Think it needs to be a 12v 7amp one. Thanks for any help
fenboy
I have never hear of a magnet being used with anything but a rechargeable one , what battery are you currently using ?
Fisherman Mike
I use a 12v 12ah Mobility scooter battery for my Magnet...the last I bought ( 3 years ago) was £20 quid on ebay...runs for about 12 hours on full tilt is reasonable weight and size and rechargeable with any standard 12 v charger. It appears to actually be rechargeable. What is the best way to recharge these? Sorry for what is probably a fairly trivial question. Cosd
Something like this will do the job. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-VOLT-TRICKLE-BATTERY-CHARGER-CAR-VAN-MOTORHOME-CARAVAN-MOTORBIKE-QUAD-12V-NEW-/221397450230?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item338c50fdf6 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-7AH-12-VOLT-PIGEON-MAGNET-BATTERY-SPADE-TERMINALS-SLA-SEALED-RE-CHARGABLE-/190728130425?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c68484f79 Same as this one. It is rechargeable!! though you shouldn't leave them without charge for too long. I will charge mine as soon as I get home after a day out shooting. chris1961
Try a alarm battery sealed rechargeable
Redditch
Alarm batteries, although sealed and rechargeable, as usually way too low amp hour rating. Best is something around 12volt and either 17, 20, or 22 amp hour rating. Then you can do a whole days shooting with it no problem. You want sealed gel batteries, such as mobility scooter, fork lift truck batteries etc, as they are generally sealed lead gel batteries, as opposed to the liquid acid ones that are in cars and bikes Edited May 18, 2015 by Redditch
kimgary
Hi Cosd, The charger you linked to is a unregulated power supply, it will charge the battery to a fashion but is far from ideal. Its marketed as a automobile lead acid battery charger probably because they are much more tolerant of non regulated supplies, sealed lead acid batteries work on slightly different parameters, ideally charge with a proper charger when it drops to about 50-70% to get the best life out of the battery. Jim Neal
I've got one of these: http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel/bulbs-wiper-blades-batteries/car-battery-chargers/halfords-fully-automatic-battery-charger Does the job perfectly. As said above, you need to use a charger capable of recharging sealed batteries. This one, as many others do I'm sure, has a switch to select between standard and sealed batteries.
