muncher
Had a call from my bro Friday evening ,are we shooting tomorrow ? can be if you like we can have a drive round see what's about ,any how he told me he wasn't available until about 12 .I Picked him up about 12 and a quick drive round one farm saw hell and all pigeons flighting over some fields to the back of a wood ,can you shoot there he asked ,I said I can on one field as they were coming over on a broad front he got in a dyke and I got behind some old tree stumps .He started well and was pulling down some nice birds in the wind ,as for me I again couldn't of hit a cows **** with a cricket bat ,I would of gone home if he wasn't there after a while he offered me his gun but I refused and said just watch me shoot at a few to see what's going on ,to cut a long story short I needed to adjust the drop and cast I was shooting over the top .We stopped after 2 hours with 45 in the bag nearly all his if I had shot anything like I normally do it would of been 70 plus, went back to mine to change the shims in the auto . I Think he will have another go tomorrow might just join him to see if I cured my recent bad form with my new gun.

fenboy
Sounds like some challenging shooting Jules , I had a hour and half and shot 12 for 12 ! I am surprised the gun needed adjusting as you shot several good birds with it last Friday ,hope it will sort out your issues now its been done. I was using the Trust last week in a 5.5 good cartridge for the money.
muncher
I've been using some lighter loads and I'm going back to some heaver loads again ,light loads are good if they decoy well but I like to take on any shot that's fetchable . Fenboy where did you get yours from as i would like to buy a slab or two
JDog
If Muncher shot well with the same gun last week what has changed? Sticking to the same cartridges may help. The ones you normally use and which have served you well don't suddenly become useless.

He did shoot well , but there was still room for improvement , sometimes if a gun does not quite fit you can sort of manipulate yourself to make it fit without really knowing , that can lead to being inconsistent which seems to be the problem he is having. Personally I have never much worried about what cartridge I use and will often have a bag of "all sorts " , it may be a bit of a edge when shooting at the very top level but other than that I do not think it matters greatly. muncher
Jdog ,the difference was last week the decoyed well and I had time to adjust myself I believe so I shot ok, in the wind with the birds moving all over and all types of shot I had to keep on the birds more and think that's showed up the problem of course I might be wrong and if so I need to change guns or have my eyes 👀 checked . fenboy
I am sure it will be fine once you have it set up to suit.
