Haha thanks mark, yes I probably will I can only put another rifle in then my feo says I need a bigger one so I'll have to go for a 14 gun next, you will need one as well if you buy anymore...I'll keep this one for when you upgrade

I'm hoping this 5 gun cabinet you sold me will last me a couple more years .........but you never know?

I aksed for my 308 on renewal last October, got it without any need for DSC. Only condition is that it's a closed ticket for that calibre.

I do want to do my DSC but also want to do RYA PB1 & PB2 so list is long, time is short....

I'm tempted to go for .270 - my FEO is weirdly obsessed about not letting me have a .308 and from what I've read, the .270 is more than adequate for UK deer species. I'm confident I could shoot either safely but have little idea of seasons and diseases

Mine is next weekend. I don't think it's compulsory testing but an opportunity to prove that my shooting is of a standard that will lead to a humane kill and keep me within the law

I thought along the same lines as you as I was going to do my dsc1 anyway but my feo asked me to do it before he gave me a full bore (I have rim fires already) and I just thought why not it gave me more time to save for a decent rifle.

I could have got basc involved as I know it's not a requirement to have it but personally I think anyone who hasn't had experience/training with centre fire rifles should have some sort of instruction as you are being trusted with something that can do a lot of damage. I think a lot of people get too paranoid about what the police are trying to do, I accept in some cases they can be stepping way out of line but they mostly do a good job. I know it's not in their remit and it's the home office that sets the rules but it's not (in my opinion) entirely unreasonable to ask for dsc1 or some other form of safety training if you can't prove you have experience.

Good luck with your course buddy you will walk it. It's intense learning but it all goes in. Are you doing it through basc?

Which centrefire caliber are you looking to get Mr Dave?

Gone for a 6.5x55, I used one a few times stalking and when I did my dsc1. It's really nice to shoot plus a colleague at work who's stalked for 30 years recommended it. ive been thinking about what caliber for months and the 6.5 ticks all the boxes for me. The ammo is pricey and not many local rfds sell it but realistically I'm not going to be shooting loads of rounds
