passed your comments on simon, he said we have advanced the timing as far as the slots will go, checked locking screw for retaining color on pump drive gear, easy jobs first, and now he will remove pump and check cam and pump timing :good::good: hope that makes sense to you as its all jibber jabber to me, not one mention of the big hammer or banksy spray gun :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

yeah that sounds the job......

brakes................check the manifold flap is working in syncro with the brake pedal....if it aint adjusted proper it wont give you the vacumn to work the brakes proper...

check the temp' of the brake drums front and back after you have run it out a bit....they might be binding and need winding off a bit....(just put your hand on the drums ...careful...cause they can get bloody hot)..........

if you have advansed the timing on the pump as far as you can go....then you have the same problem i had.....you alter the cam cog by one tooth and turn the pump back to the beginning again..............................

best of luck.......................pity RodP aint about anymore he would explain it better...

a day maybe, as long as he spends the whole day in my garage :lol:

Why should he spend twice as much time as you do......... in your garage :P 😂😂😂😂😂

Ps, "going dark till completion" didn't last long 😂😂😂😂😂😂

so this morning i took bonni over the road to the land rover garage with instructions to sort out the pump timing, sort out the flap in the air intake manifold, and find out why the charge light is still on despite it having a me alternator,

at 9.15am this morning i got a call saying the charge light is on because its the wrong bulb holder so its constantly earthing,

the flap in the manifold for some reason is to small and is just spinning round instead of coming to rest when closed, hence the brakes being ****

and cant really remember what he said about the pump timing as it all sounded complicated, he said something about they had tested the timing and it was advanced as far as poss, and there was something else he was going to check, then he mentioned the timing chain but said thats a fairly big job, just he was going to see how it went doing the other thing first and let me know,

so a couple of hours later he said that he managed to find and order just the flap as the whole unit was £500, not sure what the flap cost though, and that he was going to have to do something with the timing chain and something else i think, so i just said whatever it is it needs doing so just do it,

called in after work to see how it was going, all still in bits and he said the timing was as far out as it could be, he also mentioned some thing about a cog that he had out from below the fuel pump, so no idea if he had been on it all day or not or how longs left, not looking forward to this bill :no::no::no:

I may have missed it as I only look at your post every now and then but are you not going to put the white/cream stripes down the sides of it.

on another subject I am pleased to see that you refer to your truck as a he I never got this thing that people have about calling cars she or the old girl I have always thought of my cars/trucks as being male.

This applies even more to a 4x4 why would you call something that looks aggressive with big chunky tyres a she if you had say a mini or morris 1000 or even a slinky low sports car ok.

yes mate the stripes are definitely going on at the end, and im sorry to have to inform you but (her) name is bonni, thought the name may of given it away, iv never been into giving cars manes but my first land rover 90 was already named letty when i got it, so then when i got the lightweight i named her betty, you need to get more in touch with your feminine side :lol:

part still not come so still waiting, but iv heard on the grape vine she went over there smoking 120 fags a day, now she dont smoke no more :yahoo::yahoo:

so after work i went over to jake wright land rover to see if bonni was ready to come home, butterfly had just come and they were doing it as i arrived, so i waited about a bit so i could take her home with me, first i had to pay the bill, as i was told with the VAT on it would be £50 an hour, and as i was also told its probably a days work, they open at 9am and close at 5.30pm and have an hour for lunch, so im thinking 8 hours labor, £400, printed my bill out and it was £612, butterfly valve was £17 and bulb holder for charge light was a couple of quid, so that works out at a 12 hour job, now iv no idea if thats about right or not but i know from my mate coming round, he can do 4 hours work and it seems like nothings done, its more than i was hoping but it is what it is and its all done :good::good:

the boys are now back in town, even though she isnt a boy :oops:
