just waiting my my other pictures to come through from my phone before i can post anymore, some times they dont come through for a while for some strange reason,

but in the mean time iv nearly decided on my wheels and tyres, after speaking to one of the lads over at jake wright land rover today iv decided on a 5.5 X16" wheel

the 600 x16 tyres are to skinny, then i saw a series 2A with 750 X 16" tryes on that looked ok, then i saw a series one with some 650 x 16" on and they looked perfect, the wheels i can get from paddocks for £43.80 inc VAT, and thats free delivery, jake wrights said if they got some and sold them to me for that then they would only make £1.50 per wheel, so didnt even offer to get me any

that bit of plastic trim from the side of the dash, i just whipped over it with some of that black dye i had from my experiment with the carpet, looks ok in the flesh, they did say it was suitable for carpet, rubber and plactic trim,,

very very nice FS, you have done a cracking job, only thing i dont like is the cover on the spare wheel, and im not a big fan of spare wheels on the bonnet, mine has a thing on the bonnet for one to sit, and a mount on the back door for one, and iv seen a picture of a csw with one on the back and one on the front, bit much for me, mine will be going on the back, but obviously with yours it wont go in the back,

where did you get your floor mats from...how much are they....mone had fitted carpet.......not a good idea...but would like those......

Here you go, they are not cheap but they are the business - http://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/our-models/series-iii-40/series-iii-1971-to-1985/floor-matting-floor-covering/acoustic-matting-systems/series-moulded-matting-system.html

The rear is 12mm Stable matting and helps keep the noise down.

Yes I can;t fit it on the tailgate and the swing out carriers look fine on the Defender but not on a Series. As I have installed a seat belt bar for the inertia belts you can lo longer install the wheel behind the bulkhead. If you install the spare wheel on the bonnet it has to go on upside down and then it fills with water. When you pull away it all comes over the front windscreen, hence the need for a cover.

i didnt realise they went on upside down and you got a bow wave when pulling off

maybe get an elasticated tighter one, then again you might like it as it is and i should shut my trap :lol::lol:

cracking looking no matter what :good::good:

It only went on the other day so it will have a 10-15% shrinkage when the sun and rain get it. People also cut a marine ply circle to go on top of the wheel to stop it filling with air an ballooning up.
