viking
Keeps you young. But it's making me old. So the black bit is this bit. Witch connects to that other thing? So what makes them flaps open? Wouldn't it be good if I knew the names of things???
viking
And what does that shiny bit do. That's the heater control valve isn't it? What's this then. Thought this was something to do with the heater

Lord O War
Heater controls on the right hand of the instrument panel control : hot and cold, that cable operates the valve near the thermostat and the other one controls the flaps in the lower dash panel. Now you have the same problem as me, I took it all apart and though dead easy but I forgot to take pics!! The flap on the drivers side of the lower dash should have a dodah that the cable goes into and is held on by a method I have yet to divine from the tea leaves the other end is just clamped in place at control lever end. Your flap seems to be missing the dodah bit that the cable gets attached to. I thought it would be clamped in place by a screw down the centre of said dodah but this is either wrong or I have lost the screw that does this. The cable doesn't look like it has been clamped in position but I did find a rusty metal ring in the pile of bits I took off it so that may have something to do with it. I have tried looking for pictures but it seems no one takes photos of this!
viking
Good answer that mate. Cheers. And yes I did do a bit of a demo job on it when I got it. But also it was bodged in so many ways. Previous owner obviously didn't care. And it came from Guernsey where they don't have MOT's just looked back on some of my old photos I took and there was nothing but a pipe coming of the heater control valve. Don't even get me started on the wiring. I bet there were enough redundant wire in it and behind the dash to wire 4 of them up
Gordon R
The brake pipe clips look a big improvement. I thought the others looked a bit vulnerable.

ditchman
would this do as a reverse light, i know its for a defender and its bigger than the lights on mine but the reverse lights seem to be bigger on the ones iv seen with round reverse lights https://www.devon4x4.com/clear-side-light-nas-spec.html no it wouldnt........you need to put a bloody great hole in somewhere to put it.............get the rectangular box type.....2 small fixing screws... I thought the others looked a bit vulnerable. and ugly Lee are you retrimming the Safari yourself or sending it out to be done? its go off to a bloke whos been doing that sort of thing for 50 years now, hes retired but still does a bit from home in his garage, had a few seats done off him in the past, he does a fantastic job My vent controls are in the dash cubby holes so are mine, i was on about the ones on the bottom of the dash underneath, its all sorted now, pics to follow, no it wouldnt........you need to put a bloody great hole in somewhere to put it.............get the rectangular box type.....2 small fixing screws... there is a gurt hole there already, and was one the other side, but due to in having the new quarter panel on the rear tub there isnt now, i could put a square one where the hole is though the hand throttle is attatched to the bulkhead (if he has one) yes i have one
