clanchief
My housekeeper has booked us a cottage in Settle early October. Any advice on the best trout fishery options or clay grounds nearby ? Chiefy
100milesaway
Kelbrook, open most days Except Mon I think. Craven again open most days except mon. . Crabtree farm open Sat afternoon. Albert 888
Coniston cold clay ground is quite good. Get a day ticket on the river at Gargrave for the trout.
Albert 888
Kilsney crag between Malham and Grassington for farmed trout.
Stonepark
Can get rainbows at Stocks Res if you fancy a day on a boat... Nearest shop is Malmo at Dolphinton for cartridges and a good gun shop, Kelbrook Clays is still there and had a good sporting layout when I used it a few years ago.. clanchief
Kelbrook or Craven sounds good, Coniston seems to be ok if you need a teacher or a help out, really pricey though, I only pay £10 for 50 birds so shoot 100 each sunday, don't mind a little extra on a break for a few days. I'd prefer a bank fishery or a river, I normally fish from boats, and lugging a boat seat and the Daiwa box is overkill methinks, for this trip.. On Loch Leven this Sunday so no doubt won't bend the rod much. Thanks all. Chiefy
100milesaway
I think it was about £18 for 100 clays at Crabtree farm on Sat unless it's gone up . The targets are excellent and the pies are great too. from Auntie.
LancsLad45
You can fish Stocks from the bank. There's an EA section on the Ribble that you can fish for trout, see their website. Not sure if they are still doing them but at Kelbrook you can pick up 1000 Eley First Selects in 21/24/28 gram for £145. I got pick some up 3 weeks ago. clanchief
I take it I can buy one of your EA fishing licenses locally for the week or from the fishery ? We don't have them up here, and if we did they'd go the same way dog licenses did. Chiefy
LancsLad45
Post office sell licences for day, week or year.
Jonty
Chiefy, the river season for trout will finish at the end of sept here so stocked fish will be your only option for the start of October. helwith bridge fishery is maybe 4 miles from settle and is well worth a dabble, the pub, the Helwith Bridge, is within walking distance of the fishery and does great food and excellent beer should you need refreshment and a meet up with Mrs chiefly during the day. felly100
The grayling in the rivers extends the season way past October.
