Stonepark
mammoth Pellet count like that seems quite low for a 42g No1 in steel. Sounds more like a BB or doesn't like the choke. Worth opening a cartridge to do a weigh and pellet count? RC Atomic In line with what i would expect Fiocchi Steel English Size 1 rather than Italian size 2? If so about where you would expect. widgeon man
Fiocchi looked like 3.6mm to me
henry931
The target area is smaller hence less hits: 2x2' = 575 square inches 30" diameter circle = 707 square inches Also at 42 yards not 40, so if you scale the hits it's more like: 142, 153, 163 Pattern percentages are nice to know, but I think it's more useful to just eye them up and look for quality

widgeon man
Not too bad Rob, but if you use a large sheet, then mark pattern based on highest number will give a clearer indication, as your centre of pattern looks slightly off to the left to me in first two sheets? Hard to see from pics though. 3's will fill in some holes for duck with that shot weight, but 1's look ok for geese, just thin for a duck crumpled! littlerob
Yes the RC 36g seem to pattern better than the 42g gamebore and there both size 1. But I was suprized how good the fiocchi patten in size 2 and was the cheapest as 6.85 for a box of 25 might we a in between cartridge for long duck close geese or inland decoying geese
kent
I should be happy with number 2 but it's not an English size
littlerob
Yh it's Italian but seemed to shoot ok on the shoulder and patten well
motty
The Fiocchi are 3.5 mm shot size. I have a load of them. They have performed well on several ducks so far this season.
