Heres a good question for all of the Shotgun experts, iam looking for the ideal shotgun for someone who has a serious neck injury and has just had an operation on his shoulder to restore the joint. His doctor has now given him the all clear to do some light shooting. He is of the old school so it has to be O/U. Thanks for your help.

If he has a favorite gun then use that BUT use lighter cartridges.

Try 24g or Subsonic carts to lighten the load.

Remember a lighter gun with the same load can mean more kick not less.

Auto's are another way of reducing the recoil, but it can be dificult to find a NEW auto that will reliably cycle light loads

Either a 20g or maybe a 12b but using .410 adaptors - a chap at my local clay shoot had a similar problem with his shoulder. He uses .410 3" Remington cartridges in his 12b, have seen him on the skeet, as good as any 12 bore.

Cheers

What's your O' fella planning to shoot? The cartridge load is likely to have as much, if not more effect on his shooting, than the gun will. The heaviest gun he can comfortably handle, with the lightest ammo load suitable plus a good butt plate (like kick eaze) and maybe a shooting vest with built-in shoulder pads will help. A semi would have been best, though.

if he is old skool he may not like it but it does sure soak up recoil a brownign cynergy inflex with 24g carts. if you can get a heavy 20b and use 24g it might be as good, but a heavy o/u and light loads is probably best. although if you have a spare grand on top you could get a precision fit stock with the special hydraulic thingy.
