Stoves
Has anyone got any ideas on what makes the best hide setup, realtree or normal camo. Or have any pictures of good hides to share
red_stag88
I use the best, Realbush. It's as realistic as it gets, and offers good protection. However it is rather permanant.
JONO
I've got an ex army vehicle camo net (4.5m x 4.5m) doubled over so its 2m by 4.5m - this should give me at least a metre around me. Saying that - I've yet to try it out. Don't pay too much for camo netting though - mail me for details if you struggle. J
Cranfield
Like many things, this is a question of personal choice. I prefer the "ex-Army" type of cammo net, I think a lot of the "modern" alternatives are over priced.
jubnut
the good thing about ex army nets is that they actually have a hemp net in them, the modern ones are ****e in my opinion as they are just too flimsy.
Shotgun Mike
i agree, the army net is thin enough to see through with no problems but the quarry cant see through it that well.
Pigeon_decoyer
It all really depends on the background of the hide, if its got plenty of leafs go for army clothing and if its twigs and dead branches go for reeltree camo. Guinness
I built a hide using an army cammo net 10ft square. I bought some fibre-glass poles from the tent shop for a dome tent and also some nylon webbing about 0.5" wide, sew loops either end of the webbing and use it to lay on floor and keep the tension in the poles (dome shape). Then I threw the netting over the top and it blended in pretty good near the hedge and excellent in the woodland.

jonno 357
I use gortex lined cammo material supplied to most armies in Europe. Why cos me mate manufactures it for european export. Not too bad as a freebee Jonno
Dave TS
I'm using Deben Camoreal, in both patterns, but in my (limited) experience for pigeons the material is immaterial (excuse pun). Rule #1 is to keep absolutely dead still, and preferably keep below the top of the hide until the last moment then pop up and shoot. It seems to me to be movement that spooks the pigeons more than what the hide is made out of. Also important to keep your hands and face covered - they will pick up movement more if they are bare - and if the pigeons are in close try not to blink or have too much eye movement either (honest!)
RAMMER BURT
 i read once that a pigeon can see eye movment from a 1/4 of a mile a way, archie coats, went out 2 weeks a go just for a walk about bumped into my mate going a snow riden rape field all i was wearing was a camo coat and trousers had sun glasses on and a black hat ended up shooting 30 pigeons standing outside the hide while my mate sat in the hide, just made of a small piece of camo net nothing seemed to put them off not even my mut walking throw the patern to pick up dead birbs, good 3 hours shooting.
