lee1972
Out Monday as we had time off work & only shoot once a week, mostly Saturdays & some Sundays for pigeons . The weather has NOT been very good this season so Monday wasn't to bad but the ground was saturated but its same for everyone. We walked one perm & looked for pigeons as we had our decoys ect but not many pigeons showing about on the oil seed rape at the moment (NOT COLD ENOUGH) well that's what I think, also the rape is growing very quick for the time of year ! After about an hour we changed our perm where there was quite a few birds (pheasants) about & some rabbits which we missed everyone lol after about another 2 hours & back home by 2pm we ended up with 5 birds & 2 duck ! NOW as I don't post a lot on here & just like to share our days out , I just want to put something straight because I read a post the other day which someone said about the amount of game people shoot (FOR GREED) !!! When myself or my shooting partner go shooting we only take what we need & will not over shoot a perm as I like to give the perms a rest ( 3 to 4 weeks ) over the season, also everything we take is used & we own freezers !!! We are very conservation minded in our approach to shooting as I have been shooting since I was 10 so 33 years & between us its over 50 years experience. One example is 2 weeks ago on a perm our dogs put up 2 hares right by our feet & did not even raise the gun as we have done with most game like sat when about 15 pheasants flushed in front of me in one area & seen about 50 or so but we only shot 5 & 2 ducks so please don't judge a book by its cove !! Anyway all in all it was a very enjoyable day & look forward to our next day out.
lurchers
Well done and I shoot to fill my freezer for the year,I haven't been out yet as I haven't had time and I bought a new gun 2mths ago and don't know if it's any good yet.i go for what I can get at the time mate so I know greed doesn't come into it with me like you think it does with others.i shoot with the wife or the step sons and everything we shoot is for the belly even when the wife makes game pies she makes enough for the tea time and the rest in the freezer and to the odd friends.
