6.5x55SE
Before Christmas myself and good Fowling friend with a love for Moon Flighting like myself arranged to do a couple of Moon flight's. Whilst discussing our plans over the phone my Wife said you can't do Monday night as we are going for a family meal !!!!!! Realising it would be our last chance of a Moon flight in 2015 I said to my friend are you up for a Challenge his reply was to right mate let's go for it. So having checked tide's weather and Moon rise we arranged to meet at 8 PM Sunday night now another problem was Conor as I'd promised to take him Monday night it was to late to get him a Day ticket and in spite of me trying to let him down gently he was intent in coming. Our plan was try for a Pink in Lincolnshire where it was legal on a Sunday if we had success then travel to Norfolk where we would be legal after midnight. Getting kitted up in the empty car park my friend arrived. Both of us hoped the empty car park was due to Christmas cheer and not due to no Geese. Our spirits lifted as we topped the seawall and Conor said Pink's sure enough Pink's could be heard getting restless with a Glowing rising Moon the tide just about at its height. With our many years of Moon Flighting Pink's we knew they tend to flight lower smaller party's and direct we sat for ages just listening praying they would move sure enough some two hours later a small party crossed to our right quickly followed by two more Skeins. Having moved to the flight line we split 80 yard apart in a small creek 30-40 yard from the seawall whilst settling the Dog's Conor said in front Grandad 3 Pink's appeared well shootable heading to my friend watching we both saw his first shot speed true but failed to connect with his second. A Wink Wink getting louder I picked 20+ Pink's coming bang on taking my first shot out in front my heart sank as I double missed a very very easy chance it certainly never helped me as both Conor and friend made comments. As time passed Geese flighted low but offering no Chance's. As my friend made his way to me he suddenly dropped and started calling what turned out to be a pair which went by turned and came back as good as it gets this time my first shot folded one as the other flared gaining height 36grm of Steel 2 also found its mark. Game on remarked my friend let's go so with Pink's steadily flighting we left for the North Norfolk Coast. 12.40 am we stood listening to a very strong flight of Pink's taking place. After a few attempt's we finally got under the flight sadly Conor's first 4 single shot's went astray whilst I heard the thump of falling Pink's to my friends shot's. Walking to us my friend carried six Pink's and with a Big smile said come on Conor you can do A few minutes later a Skien appeared under the Moon perfect both encouraging Conor concentrate on the head pick the leader NOW sure enough the lead Pink folded and the Skien split my 5th and 6th Pink followed Conor's Pink with a good thump. Having bagged my Geese sleeved my gun ready for the long walk another Skien approached us more encouragement of due the same to Conor we watched as they got closer and closer as I was about to say NOW they lifted Bang a Pink fold's Bang another Fold's Conor had ended 2015 with a double at Moon Pink's. It was hand shakes back Slap's and Man huggs all-round. Our journey had started at 7pm and at 02.15am both myself and friend had achieved Pink's under the Moon in two different county's on the same night another special event to end 2015 Now to get Conor and myself our first Pink's of 2016

6.5x55SE
Thank you all for your kind comments I wish you also a Happy New Year with a good few flights for the rest of the Season. John there is a certain Wash Club where our featured could easily be achieved with knowledge and dedication. For myself Moon flighting Geese is the Cream for many reasons. Often being alone with Dogs and Wildfowl whilst most of the World sleeps the Geese are normally at a lower height and smaller Skiens also as with our first destination you can shoot them in places you could sit all season in daylight just Goose watching.
