Royboy
Hi just a quick question, if I was to buy a car from EBay then get the train to collect it and on way back the clutch went would I be able to get recovered by the Rac ? My policy says any car ? BUT, what if I was collecting the car with no MOT and TAX and using trade plates ?? Cheers

felly100
Trade plates don't cover no MOT I believe.

Mike737
Why not just collect it on a trailer/recovery vehicle? If you have legitimate access to trade plates, I would expect you have access to one of the above? If not, hiring a trailer for the day might well be cheaper than the train fare... Hope this helps, Mike.
felly100
I hired a beaver tail for the day. I couldn't believe how cheap it was.

Hope this helps, Mike. We have a recovery truck but the vehicle I'm picking up is to heavy for it, i don't have the licence to tow a trailer I'm afraid, I do know a lad with a bigger recovery truck so I might ask him for a price Cheers I hired a beaver tail for the day. I couldn't believe how cheap it was. Who was that off ??

ajb403
A lot of private (don't know about trade) recovery policies have an exemption for the first 24 hours of ownership so you may need to look at the small print of your policy. jay404
I had a car break down on borrowed trade plates. Aa rac and greenflag wouldn't touch me had to go with a local recovery firm instead
Royboy
That's that then, I won't risk it
TaxiDriver
A lot of private (don't know about trade) recovery policies have an exemption for the first 24 hours of ownership so you may need to look at the small print of your policy. The restriction is usually within the 24 hours of initially joining the breakdown/recovery service, Not coming into ownership of the car.
