belly47
I'm currently working for an upholsterer and part of the job consists of collecting and delivering various pieces of furniture to and from the workshop. One of my collections today was at a farm, so naturally when I saw the address my mind started thinking about shooting. On arrival I started chatting to the lady of the house and thought perhaps I would not get a chance to see the farmer to have a shooting based chat. I then heard him in the next room and when he came in and we had some general conversation about the work we would do for him I enquired as to how he has been affected by pigeons as I had shot a few on a nearby farm some time ago. When he replied not too bad so far this year and that he has a couple of lads that shoot for him I thought that any potential shooting for me would be a non runner. How wrong I was, he asked me if I was a shooter and I said yes very much so and he then really shocked me by saying that I could shoot his land if I wanted! To say I was surprised is an understatement, we chatted for ages about guns and shooting in general and I left with all his contact details and 850 acres of new permission. Going back to see him ASAP for a drive round and to collect maps of his land. He is easily the most friendly farmer I think I have ever spoken too. I didn't expect that when I went to work today! kingo15
Nice one well done. I had the same just before Xmas, we do a lot of work for rental agents anyway one of the landlords contacted me regarding his dad's gas fire not working. He had a couple people look at it but kept getting fobbed off. So we turned up and fixed it got it working. Cut a long story short found out he is a farmer and asked if he had a issue with pigeons etc and fancied a bit if barter system. Never charged him for his dad's repair and got 240 acres of shooting
