Harry136
I'm researching various products for a friend, he wants something that he can use to scan his farm fields with at night. His budget is around £150. I've seen a Yukon NV MT3 night vision monocular, it has good reviews, but has anyone any experience of one and are Yukon a decent make? Dave-G
Monoculars are generally similar mag to a scope at 5 mag so they have a tight field of view that is not very good for acquisition and any I have tried leave me feeling like I got poked in the eye, some call it eye burn. However they are quite compact and are ideal foe lone hunter on foot as they fit in a large pocket. If you use a truck there are many home built options that are easier on the eye - but most will be above that budget if they are built for you. Here are three options I make: without an illuminator @ £220. 12V truck powered. Can be 3.5 mag or supplied with smaller lens options. without an illuminator @ £200 without two 18650 batteries or charger. About 3.5 mag or larger option option. having an integrated Black Sun T50 IR @ £275. without two 18650 batteries or charger. Can be 3.5 mag or supplied with smaller lens options. Dave-G
I also have one for low range barn or yard spotting: £180 with the integrated IR, without batteries. Probably something like 1 mag. And a spotter that 'plugs' onto a rifle too: @ £240 All + £10 RMSD.
