BrowningB525
If you can and the girls are able to hold one up,a gas operated semi-auto is great as they have only a single barrel are easy to swing around. They could then shoot 24g or a soft shooting 28g like Hull Superfast. hull superfast soft shooting? My wife can't hold a semi auto up so I cut down the stock and barrels on my old side by side. At 24 1/2" and cylinder no choke barrels she finds this ok with 21g Hull Comp-X Also a Hatsan youth model 20 bore semi auto would be a good option with 24g carts. E27N_JD
To be honest they have a choice of 5 guns. there's no semi's but there are 3 different over under's and 2 side by sides. the gun fitting shouldn't be that much of a problem as each of the 5 guns are of a totally different size and weight. Westley
there will be an instructor shooting with us, its just up to me to buy the cartridges. our friend is an instructor and he is putting on day for all of us. Well really in that case, I would have expected him to provide suitable cartridges and a suitable weight gun ? There is nothing worse than watching young ladies trying to shoot the 'macho' mens guns and catridge loads. Do not forget that most Females require a shorter and higher stock than the 'average' Male. But, I feel sure that your Instructor will know that.
E27N_JD
Although he is instructor he only offers lessons to people with their own guns, the only reasons he is willing to give them a bit of group coaching is because he is a friend of mine. Guest cookoff013
the lightest shells i`ve ever had were 21gram subsonics out of a 12 bore. it was a homeload... all the loads that get tested have recoil data and 21g subsonics can be fired by young adults. the 24g loads are about as hot as i`d go for teaching a youngster, but subsonics knock all the recoil. i have recoil numbers from 21g-24g-28g-32g-42g subs and standard loads. subs are great for recoil sensitive or small frame. i recently saw a bunch a guys shooting clays and an older gent having the hell knocked out of him, guess what shells? black gold 35 or 36g #5. man he was being beat up. my 28g subs were designed for cheap shells for kids to be loaded with 5s and still do the business at range, (7.5s for clays obviously) certainly for a starter subs. but after a while those 24g competition and club shells offer great performance.
