bigbird
Probably a daft question but is it worth vaccinating them against myxamatosis if they're near a population of wild rabbits? Just wondering as I'm weighing up the costs, I'm guessing vaccination is the cheaper option in the long run if the disease is a possibility? Assuming the rabbits fulfill their natural lifespan or is the vaccination annual Should have googled shouldn't I really Edited February 21, 2016 by bigbird
cocker boy
Don't bother. A rabbit pen is only any good when the rabbits are fresh. Any longer than about 3 weeks and the rabbits just move around in front of you, if they are fresh ones they will sit tight. It is no good unless they are changed on a regular basis. spinach
Myxy is a problem with warrens and what ever anyone thinks even a tame rabbit will run and hide unless you feed by hand ,but turn up with a dog and they soon run! It'll be fantastic . How many rabbits will you be getting? Not sure of the cost of the vaccine but if you get the number someone who shows rabbits you should be able to get them at not much cost as long as there not anti's! Good luck. They are less likely to burrow if you have plenty of cover and they won't get myxy. Also proper wild rabbits never go tame.
