Redgum
... and then you may have a situation like on one of my permissions, the farmer, a young hot headed fellow protects his rights with complete aggression after having people walk through his garden on numerous occasions while the children are playing on the lawn. Don't get me wrong, if you phoned this fella and asked if you could walk your dog on his land he would most probably say yes if you did it were he said and if it was on a lead. But stray an inch off the footpath or have your dog off the lead then its the muck spreader fired at you as fast as his old massey will pull it. He often drops the odd muck heap right in the middle of a footpath or pig slurry along side it, he was in a spot of bother last year for putting intruder paint and grease on gates actually on the footpath. Locally the message is out and very few do use his ground which means we have undisturbed shooting whenever.
Zetter
One of my perms is a bit like Redgum's above its sort of Stalag 13 as the farmer has barbed wired off anywhere that isnt a footpath with no entry signs on any gate leading off the footpath. Its a lovely peaceful place to shoot with a fair few bunnies on it I never see anyone except the farmer and his missus . It does present some issues at night though if you shoot a bunny one side of the fence it can involve a bit of a walk to the gate to get it. To be fair to him though he has so far had kids playing on a bale stack one of the field trying to pull bales down on each other (Darwin in action there as they must weigh 300+ kilos), a bloke on a quad bike zooming through the farm yard and up one of the field (his excuse he was lost? as if thats a reason for driving a break neck speed through someones garden) and someones dog chasing his cattle all over the field (this did nearly land him in it as he was shall we say a bit colourful with the bloke with the dog and the *** reported him to the police so he got a nice visit from his FEO) Compare this to one of my other permissions that back onto the center of the village and is right next to a new housing development with nice gates and well laid out footpaths. This is virtually a no go area during the day unless I head well of the beaten track as they pop up everywhere even half a mile off the path. Even at night the bunnies are as jumpy as hell mainly due to dog activity. This permission is over three times the size of the other one but is much harder to shoot. Mentalmac
One of my permissions borders a river, which on the other side there is a foot path approx 300 yards away from the river. Anyhow, I'm there shooting (looking away from the river) - next thing, I hear a loud shout of "OI" and I turn around and see a very angry man and his family with their dogs - I wonder over to the river (which was between us luckily) and he was shouting over to me that my gun was scaring his dogs as they are scared of loud bangs and I am to stop this instant or he'll come over my side and 'lump me one'... I did remind him that he was around 300 yards off from the footpath towards the border of the land I shoot, I'm shooting on private land, and I am sorry but it's not my problem his dogs are scared of loud bangs. I did however tell him that I would nicely wait for him to be a good distance away before carrying on and with that they carried on (and back towards the footpath) - the devil in me wanted to let one off when he had turned his back but I am luckily more mature than that Some people eh. I also was laying in ambush for some rabbits with a airgun, laying under a large shrub 30 yards from a HUGE amount of warrens when a dog walker, trespassing, came by with his dog and turned right in front of me puling his dog (who was trying to get to me) along with him... when the dog pulled back again he turned to chastise his dog and saw me and literally jumped, dropped the lead (dog legging it and not coming back quickly to him!) and was heavily breathing and hand on chest - for a few moments I thought I was either going to be phoning an ambulance or being walloped. Luckily he was fairly ok and I explained that the private keep out signs were there for a good reason and to have a lovely evening and sent him on his way. Lastly, a annoyingly loud woman (who feared an uncanny resemblance to 'miss piggy' was walking two happy little dogs and in similar fashion to the above, yelling and hollering to her dogs all the while, and I knew she would be coming past me, so to avoid scaring her I stood up and said hello before it frightened her as I was in no doubt she would see me. I told her I was rabbit shooting (well trying to!) and hence the camo and quietness. She apologised and said "Oh, so sorry, I'll quietly walk off to not scare the rabbits" Leaving me laughing like a school girl at the fact that I knew the rabbits wouldn't be out for ages since you could have heard 'big bertha' a mile away and she was STOOD ON THE BLOOMING WARRENS! (I ended up not going back to that farm after that)

keg
At our place in the lakes, we have lake access and have had many boat owners over the years and the bobble hat brigade nowadays asking if they can access the lake edge. I feel bad saying no (our house is nearest the gate & grid) but insurance is already expensive and they would be the first to claim, plus there a quite a few expensive boats there.
