Redgum
Does anyone have any experience of this rifle, a mate of a mate has one for sale. I have had a variation for 223 and mod sat on my license that needs using and like the look of this compact rifle. Pretty sure Steyr have pretty good quality barrels, are they general an accurate rifle or just a bit faddy ?
kyska
I had a prohunter in .223 and was very happy with it.

Scully
Steyr are up there with the very best. A very well established company with a good heritage going back generations. I had a classic Steyr pistol from the First World War, dated 1917, and a mate had it's (then) modern counterpart. Both were excellent pistols. Mungler
I had a synthetic steyr scout tactical elite in .223 and I wish I had never sold it. Saying that I swapped it for one in .308 Accurate out of the box, integral bipod, spare mag in the stock and plenty of swivels and a weaver rail as standard. Buy it, you won't regret it. robbiep
Not entirely relevant, but I've got a Steyr Mannlicher SL in 223. A 1989 rifle with 1:8 twist, double set triggers, and the original Apoel swing-off mounts, and the 'Made in West Germany' s+B 6*42 scope. It is still fantastically accurate. The only weak point is the Mk 1 human on the trigger !
