all this mentioning of back scratching and deals between masons is cobblers.

 

exactly the same stuff occurs at every golf club,rotary,motor club etc.

 

people help each other out when they are connected.

Of course they do, but they're not there supposedly promoting upstanding morals. It goes on everywhere, you only have to look at MP's and the old boy network.

Its the members that make a lodge so naturally they will all differ. Thats the good thing about visiting other lodges. Due to shift work i havent been in a few years but regularly meet brethern. It has never done me any harm and like has been said has helped me at public speaking and being more confident. SMIB

Several people have suggested that I try to join, they usually come round in pairs, but a couple of people, one with some sort of regional rank, have said there was little point if I was teetotal. My former hairdresser was a member and often spoke of how certain people 'could drink'.
