WinchesterDave
Yesterday for a break from uni exam revision I needed to get out, and having been shooting on Monday I decided to grab my Canon and Sigma and head out to Mere Sands Wood. There weather had definitely broken, with it raining constantly but I needed the break so headed out nontheless. As I got to the hides, I decided to change to RAW. Just for a play about really and see what it was like to edit when I was home. I've decided RAW is now what I'm always going to use lol.... The bad weather meant a complete lack of colour, so I've edited my images in Black and White. For the first time ever I found the bad weather actually helped my images come to life and added a degree of atmosphere when coupled with the B and W effect. What do you think? Thanks for looking 👍 Dave
Guttersnipe
Really good Dave and as you say very atmospheric - good luck with the exams, stick with it, it'll be worth it - the odd afternoon off is important to clear your head. cheers GS
misser
good pics as usual...at this rate maybe ditch the exams and take up photography... even in the rain mere sands wood is a nice place to spend an afternoon

I think for the minute however, it will continue to be a hobby. Yes, it's a great place to go, I find going to places like Mere sands in the rain rather relaxing; maybe that's just me though... Fuji Shooter
Glad you are taking a break from exams and yes RAW is the only way to shoot (unless you are shooting film)
WinchesterDave
Thanks matey. Yes I just think they seem much clearer and cleaner? And you don't need to do AS much when editing.. For example instead of applying 15 sharpness 5 will do etc... That's what I found from yesterday though... Is that right ?
Fuji Shooter
I bring my stuff into Lightroom and just do a couple of lighting adjustments, I never sharpen any of my stuff it is as it comes out the camera. I also don't crop anything but I don't shoot wildlife so I am a little closer to the subject then you are. WinchesterDave
Fair enough mate, I normally add a tiny amount of sharpness
Fuji Shooter
But if you shoot B/W it looks better with noise and grain anyway, more old school. Photography is all subjective and there are no real rules, just carry on with how you do things and find your own style and work flow. Your pics are really good.
