fatchap
After six weeks of shed work my latest creation is almost finished. I've took the liberty of taking some pics and posting them here as you can see it still needs a tickle here and there but its new owner is rather anxious to get it as he is off to Anglers paradise tomorrow. The blade is D2 stainless and will be mirror polished, The handle materials are brass, curly birch, and mahogany, with carbon fibre liners. It was a bit of a job to make to be honest as the parts of the handle all had to marry up with the tang slots all lined up perfectly, this did not happen and I was head scratching trying to come up with a solution. Anyway I sussed it in the end and here is the result, be honest I know the handle is a tad on the chunky side but this bloke has hands like a bunch of bananas. Any comments appreciated!! fatchap
how did you do the hollow grind.............. Its not hollow ground its just a sabre/scandi grind. I've had very little success with hollow grinding if I'm honest, even with a barrel sander its still a mystery to me. Thats what I thought if he drops it in the water, got to admit I'm quite reluctant to let it go.
wisdom
From my navy days any knife and most tools I use near water get attached to a lanyard of sufficient length to allow use.
