Fredwalton
I'm hopefully of gaining a new permission today. A lot of pigeon shooting I do I do it with a mate of mine, so I was just wondering how best to ask the farmer if he tag along when I shoot? My thinking is not to mention my mate at first but maybe after a few visits ask about him. He can offer rabbit control with ferrets etc. Any advice would be welcome. robbiep
Don't mention another person for a while. Let the farmer learn that YOU are reliable, respectful, do a decent job. Realistically for a year or even 2. Think about it from the farmers point of view. You're asking him to give a large level of trust to you. And then instantly asking him to trust your mate too. Asking for too much at once could well result in you getting nothing at all.
belly47
I shoot with a mate and always say to any new potential permission that we shoot together and have not had any problems so far. But I always arrange for the farmer to sign permission forms when both of us are present so they get to meet all parties
Danpro
I always ask if it's OK to bring a friend now and then, generally they are ok with it but if they say no then I don't take any one.
motty
I usually ask farmers if I can take a friend as soon as I have been granted permission. Most of them are absolutely fine with it.

Fredwalton
Thanks. Just got the permission which is great, farmer has peas as well which I've never shot on. I didn't mention my mate yet but will do as he's seems relaxed
