Problems with steel cartridges!

Recommended Posts

Basically I shoot a semi auto and since switching to steel loads I get quite a few jams/ cycle problems. I get no such problems using any lead load. Today I picked up a used steel cart and noticed they are sort of tearing or a chunk missing from the crimped end. This is on both steel carts I use lyalvale 32 5s and gamebore 32 5s. Iv got some pics but can't get them on.

Lylevale steel is averaget best, the 36 gram ones are just acceptable, the hunting steel dire.

Guessing you are pigeon shooting with them, just switch to Gamebore super steel clay loads the 28 gram, they are faster than the 24 gram super steels and cycle most semis and work ok on pigeons.

If you can not live with the small shot just buy super steel 32gram gduck loads in say 5s, but the clay loads do kill ok for most pigeon decoying .

Do you mean gamebore super steel 32 5s? Because same thing is happening with these too losing a piece of the plastic on the crimp end

last time i saw a similar problem it was down to someone using 3" cartridges in a 21/2" chambered .410

Kind of thinking on these lines is it a very old 65mm A5 or something As its 70mm cases not 3 inch it cant be because of using in a 70 chamber its got to be a 65 mm or what other problem faulty chamber ? What. ?

With the best will in the world Carl you need to return it to GMK with the AMMO if it still under waranty or if not take it to a compitent gunsmith if its used. Its a modern long chambered gun, So the obvious long case short chamber issues dont apply here, some one needs to physicaly see it it would be the best option i think.
