Some body has had it apart by the looks of it - thread protruding above the top strap could indicate a little over tightening? Also looks in really good ( little used?) condition yet the position of the top lever suggests that she has seen some use and is worn in ( not out!!) so has she been restored? None of my remarks are a criticism - just like trying to read a guns story by simply looking at it - great guns that will out live us all.

Not sure on the history . I agree it has been broken in just nice depending on how I get on I plan on taking to bits and tarting it up. Going to have to do some research how to take it to bits.

How do I tell what the finish is . I plan to give it a little over haul if I get OK with it and will do a hand rubbed oil finish.

It has a few dings etc its not perfect but doesn't need to be a fancy gun I just don't like using my b725 in the field always feel like its too exspenive.

the finish on the wood ..is it varnish.......that would account for it been taken apart and re-assembled little bit too tight......i have my #4 with a oil finish..then the varnish does scratch and show...
